Architecture

Group Leader: Luke Pickering

Objectives of the Group

We are a large and friendly Group, who are interested in the buildings and settlements of the local area.  We arrange talks in the winter months and trips to towns, villages and individual buildings once the weather gets warmer.  We have a varied programme which includes the ancient and modern, usually with knowledgeable local guides.  Our tours often finish in the local pub or teashop!

We meet on the third Thursday of the month, generally at 10.30am. Some of our visits do have limited numbers and we have Booking Forms at the General Meetings where you can put your name down. If you have any questions, please phone Luke on 07774 251197.

See below for photos taken at some of our events, and reports are accessible.

VISIT TO AUBOURN HALL

HARMSTON RD, AUBOURN, LINCOLN LN5 9DZ

THURSDAY 11th JUNE - 10.15 AM FOR 10:30 AM

We are fortunate to have been able to arrange a visit to the impressive 17th century Aubourn Hall, set in 12 acres of secluded gardens and surrounded by the wider Aubourn Estate.

Our tour will start in the beautiful gardens, with a guided walk.  This will be followed by a visit to the historic Ground Floor of the Manor House.  The Nevile family have been custodians of Aubourn Hall and Estate for generations and no doubt our guide will have tales to tell, along with knowledge to share.

We will then move on to enjoy a light buffet lunch.    The cost of the visit, including lunch, is £26 per person.

We are restricted to a maximum of 30 members. The Booking Form will be on the Architecture Group’s table at the 21 May 2026 General Meeting, with payment of £26 to secure your place, due no later than the 4 June 2026 General Meeting.

Aubourn Hall is approximately 15 miles from Welton and south of Lincoln.  The journey should take around 30 minutes.   Car sharing is recommended.
