Objectives of the Group

We are a large and friendly Group, who are interested in the buildings and settlements of the local area. We arrange talks in the winter months and trips to towns, villages and individual buildings once the weather gets warmer. We have a varied programme which includes the ancient and modern, usually with knowledgeable local guides. Our tours often finish in the local pub or teashop!

We meet on the third Thursday of the month, generally at 10.30am. Some of our visits do have limited numbers and we have Booking Forms at the General Meetings where you can put your name down. If you have any questions, please phone Luke on 07774 251197.

A GUIDED PREVIEW OF GREYFRIARS,

We have been very fortunate in managing to arrange a guided preview tour of the remarkable 800 year old Greyfriars building before it reopens next year. It is one of the oldest friary buildings in England and has been restored by Heritage Lincolnshire, after being closed for some considerable time. It was, for many years, the home of Lincoln’s Museum and it will become a Heritage Venue.

Our tour will start on Free School Lane, to the south of the main Library. It will last just over an hour. The cost of the tour is £5 per member. Numbers are restricted to 20 members and the tour is now fully booked with a reserve list.

ANNUAL REVIEW AND PLANNING MEETING

THURSDAY 19 NOVEMBER 2026

For our last meeting of the year, please join us in the warmth and comfort of the Welton Room, where we hold our popular and friendly annual social event.

Tea/coffee and homemade biscuits will be served as you arrive. We will then recall and comment on our 2026 Architecture Group meetings, assisted by photos of the various visits.

We are in the process of compiling the Provisional 2027 Programme and this will also be displayed and discussed.

Our Visits Group Leaders, Rosey, Malcolm and Alan, will also be coming along to share their 2026 photos and plans for 2027.

A small charge of £2.00 per member will be payable at the door.
